ADFYWIAD GWLADGAROL CYMRU

Wales Patriotic Resurgence: Radical Welsh Nationalism is what Wales/Cymru needs right now. However, 'Adfywiadwyr' must first understand true patriotic struggle needs to be founded within a Campaign of Cymric Consciousness. Priority will be to wage struggle against 500 years of ''Cerebral Colonialism'',empowering us to prevail against ''Slavish Servitude''. Thence setting fourth to de-colonise our homeland and communities of the Symptoms and Symbols of English Imperialism and Colonialism.

Patriotic Roll Call: In Memory of Comrades in the Cause of Cymru.

Rembering the heroes of Adfywiad Gwladgarol 1962 - 69.

If you cannot attend Commemoration events, please individually place Ivy and floral tributes on graves, on and around dates on which our ''Old Comrades'' died, see below:

Commandant in Chief F.W.A. Julian Cayo Evans. R.I.P. d:29 March 1995.

Commandant (West Command) F.W.A. Denis Coslett R.I.P. d: 20 Mai 2004.

Toni Lewis, President Patriotic Front 1965 - 71 & Gwent Commandant F.W.A/P.F. Section. R.I.P. d: 8 Tachwedd 2005.

Pariots Awake, Arise and Advance, as the Rampant Rising Dragon of Cadwaladr, prepare to commemorate the great patriotic Resurgence - 'ADFYWAID GWLADGAROL CYMRU 1967 - 1969. The Anti - Investiture Struggle against an English Pretender Prince of Wales begins, central to this campaign was the annual rally at Cilmeri of 1967 and 1968, following on which the Radical Patriotic leadership of the Anti - Investiture Campaign were arrested, tried and imprisoned. To mark 40th anniversaries of these years of great patriotic struggle, the annual Commemorative Rallies at Cilmeri 2007 and 2008 will mark with tributes this struggle and in particular the comrades, now not with us, who were engaged in this struggle. The above three year Cilmeri Commemorations programme will conclude in 2009, with a major mobalisation of 'Afywiadwyr Gwlatgarol' and other 'Radical Nationalists' to remember the reality, that we failed to stop Investiture III and that another Englishman did become pretender ''Prince of Wales''. Thus the mobalisation at Cilmeri Commemoration 2009, will be more to do with throwing down again, of a Patriotic Guantlet to indicate clearly and loudly that future generations of patriots - 'Adfywiadwyr Gwladgarol', will be ready to challenge INVESTITURE III.

The Ghosts of Cilmeri, call to us, forward 'Adfywiadwyr Gwlatgarol', toward Cilmeri'07/8 & 9.

The White Eagles Shall Return to the Sacred Acre, and again our 'White Eagle Cross of Welsh Resistance' will fly again before the commemorative cenotaph, from where was launched and perpetuated our struggle against a foreign monarchy claiming to have soverienty over our Homeland, communities and people.

That's opptimistic of me, after Cilmeri 2006? and then the ''Pacifity'' of those who Pose and Posture a Pathetic Peripheral Patiotism in recent years. All, I suggest are ''Yesterdays Men'', unless they Patriotically and Radically prove they or not? Otherwise, then let us hope that we shall soon witness the maturing of a new generation of 'Adfywiadwyr Gwlatgarol', who are truelly ready to follow and continue the struggle of 'Adfywiadwyr'69'. NOT JUST STAND ON THE SHOULDERS OF HEROES! For inspiration read 'To Dream of Freedom', see below:

Roll of Honour, produced by Denis Coslett and once upon a time annualy read out at Cilmeri Commemoration, I would have hoped some Patriot would have kept up the recording and reading of the Patriot Roll Call, but no ones volunteered?

Do i have to do it? On top of all else I have to research, record and archive etc?

Ymlaen!

One for the Welsh Jacobites amongst us?

The picture above is of a Fountain in Kennington Park, South London. This park is famous for an huge Chartist Rally held there in 1848, famous also as the first ever photograph of a peoples protest was taken there, of this event. However, I was not in the park after ''Jacobin'' Chartists but rather seeking a forgotten Welsh Jacobite, David Thomas Morgan of Quakers Yard, Merthyr. (See Celtic League Calender for write up). David Morgan, was a Welshman who was prepared to take to action for his cause, not just talk about it as many do today. David Morgan rallied to the support of ''Bonnie Prince Charlie'' and went off to Manchester, to become one of the captains of the Manchester Jacobite Regiment. Upon meeting up with the Scottish ''New Pretender'' Prince, the Prince was talking of retreat but Morgan prevailed upon him to move the Jacobite Army into Wales to meet up with Welsh Jacobites. His idea being to see a united ''Celtic Jacobite Army'' marching out of Wales into England to dethrone the Hanovarian Dynasty, but ''Bonnie Prince Charlie'' decided on retreat that led to the disaster of the 'Battle of Culloden 1745'. David Morgan however, decided not to venture into Scotland, saying he would ''rather hang in England than starve in Scotland''. Many a word is said in jest, one regrets, as would David Morgan, attempting to escape from England to the continent, he was captured at Stafford and taken prisoner to London.
.
David Thomas Morgan was then on the 30 July 1746, taken with eight other captains of the Jacobite Manchester Regiment to the Surrey Gallows, then situated on the edge of the great Kennington Common, all were hung, drawn and quarterd, their heads stuck up at Temple Bar in London. David Morgans last words were, really calm in face of death, no great posing and posturing, he simply complained to the executioner, that ''the Coffee at breakfast was cold''. How stoic can one be, what a man, and a Taff to! Last year was the 260th anniversary of the brutal execution of the ''Manchester 9'', which included the former Lawyer David Morgan, there were no commemorations and there is no memorial. However, note that I am on the case and will have some news for you in the near future regards, that matter of a memorial, Stay close ok!
.
In mean time perhaps some one in Southern Wales, could research out where exactly David Morgan was born/lived, I have two locations named; Quakers Yard and Pen y Graig, I think at the very least such a brave 'Cymro' is deserving of at least a plaque in his homeland in recognition of his courage and fortitude, it does not matter now if you would have believed in his cause or not. Perhaps our contemporay ''Kilted Welsh Jacobites'' will have some sympathy and be up for doing something?
.
As for Commemorations? it would be good to hold one in London, in association with the Scots, particularly Scottish Jacobite Societies, so keep the 30 July to the fore of your mind. Meanwhile note the hotbed of ''Welsh Jacobites'' in Wales was in North East Wales, particularly in Wrecsam (Cambria Kilted Band note that?), the ''Welsh Jacobites'' were led by Sir Watcyn William Wyn (In an alternative Wales, he could have been our pretender?) and others who with him were members of the Jacobite 'Cycle of the White Rose', also see Pembrokeshires 'Society of Sea Sergeants'. Plenty of scope here for a Welsh Jacobite Re-Enactment Society with holding of, in main Welsh Jacobite Evenings (CB, note fund raising potential here). For Jacobite History, search Web, and note existence of a number of Jacobite Societies in Scotland and England, Northumbria in main. Much out there in the way of Jacbite Costumes and music, for those Welsh already in Kilts, one step forward and you can become a ''Welsh Jacobite'' and start to have some real fun. But first read 'Rob Roy' and 'Waverley' by Sir Walter Scot. Then return here in time, for a further article I am writting on these subject matters as related to Nationalism and Identity, plus I have more relevent news and photos on line.
Hwyl!
Gethin.

Cofia 69 - Cofia Merthyron Abergele.

First and Foremost: MERTHYRON ABERGELE.

Times were, when we really did remember their sacrifice in the cause of Cymru. See photo below of slogan, painted up on a wall, somewhere in Cymru.

There were times when we held great commemorations, but no more...

These commemorations came to an end on request of the families of 'Merthyron Abergele', due to local circumstances of hostility to the commemoration from some ''virulent voices'' within the community. However, they have not stoped patriots annually visiting in July, the graves of the 'Abergele Two' and laying Ivy and Floral tributes upon their graves. Patriots please continue to do so. In recent years 'Balchder Cymru' have taken to commemorating the death of the Abergele Martyrs with ceremony up on Eryri around a stone dedicated to the martyrs, nice gesture but not enough? At Cilmeri, the sheep stand witness to our patriotism and up on Eryri, it is the crows who stand witness to our patriotism. I am not suggesting we ignore this B.C. Contribution to the Remembrance of the 'Abergele Martyrs', if this is how they wish to remember the 1 - 7 - 1969, that's up to them, and we should be thankful they bother. Although I am not impressed with the map on the B.C website, marking out places around Cymru/Wales where we are supposed to believe other 'Cofia Merthyron Abergele' commemorations have been held, such is pretty meaningless, and with out any real signifigant patriotic purpouse to my mind.
.

I would suggest to patriots, that we may more broadly 'Cofia 69', with greater patriotic purpose, if on and around the 1st July in Caernarfon, placed small 'Ivy Rememberance Crosses' as close to Castell Caernarfon as possible. I would suggest that during the day, such crosses are placed along the wall around the plaza where the statue of Lloyd George is situated (see photo below). Further, that in the evening such crosses be placed against the closed gates of this 'Castle of Conquest 1282', It would be great if it could be arranged for patriots to assemble at 'Cofeb 1282', and from there march to the gates to hold a 'Ceremony of Ivy Crosses'. For such 'Cofia' 69 Campaign' to succeed, we really need Gwynedd Patriots to be a bit patrioticallly pro - active, and lead the way? Yes! All this does lay the foundations for future protests in Caernafon against INVESTITURE III, nothing like thinking, planning and preparing well ahead. After all, the last thing we want, is that the only demonstration on another future black day, will be at Cilmeri again? or up a mountain standing around a stone? 'Adfywiadwyr Gwladgarol' arise and lead the way forward, and place crosses in Caernarfon, starting this year, not next or never. See photos below, showing where to place crosses.
We must not forget the cause and struggle, nor the great sacrifice.

Afterthought: Those who cannot make it to Abergele, Eryri or Caernarfon, then note leave your crossess outside Swansea Courthouse and prison, as well Cardiff Prison. This will remind of the arrest, trial and imprisonment of the radical nationalist leadership of the Anti - Investiture Campaign in 1969.

Adfywiad Fashion Post: Cilting it up, for Cymru?

Full, as possible Information on how and perhaps why? the Cymry are being ''Cilited Up'' will be found on in posting: CILTS ARE US - The Cilting of Cymru published in:

Follow through the links in this article and you will come to know a lot more about ''Tartan Taffery'' and the 'Yellow (Heretics Cross of Redemption at pain of death) of Saint David. In main now being promoted by ''MHOSD MEN'', Mark Roberts and Henry Jones Davies also Editor of Cambria Magazine also initiator of the annual 'Dydd Dewi' Parade in Caerdydd. (see web for info).

Some other Post Devolution Dilettant Duped Dummies, sadly and supposedly ''nationalists'' and even ''republicans'' who have taken to the ''Cilt Cymry'' ...

The whole silly ''NAFF TARTAN TAFF'' idea, can be sourced to the ''TARTAN TAFF CENTRE'' In Cardiff (and in Abertawe) See photo below:

Although some one sent me following photos with the good news, that possibly one ''Tartan Taff'' shop is closing down? is this the case?

Do not get me wrong, I think the Scots are great in their ''Kilt Heritage'' but as for the 'Cymry in Cilts', forget it. See below what one patriot thinks of it all, note that he is replying to some one standing up for ''Cilts and Crosses'':

Commenting on ''Cilts Cymru'': ''The cilt is probably the single most recogniseable Scottish (i.e. non-Welsh) item of clothing people could possibly wear. Welsh nationalism is hardly the majority sentiment in Wales. It is something that needs to be fostered and encouraged. People need to see that Wales is a nation in her own right, with a history, culture and traditions of her own. As things stand, Wales is promoted by the powers that be as merely a geographical area incorporated into England long before nations had emerged. That is, we never had our own institutions, never had our own traditions, never were a nation. That's why our culture is portrayed as male voice choirs, the Welsh Guards marching band, coal-miners and rugby....Appearing in cilts only reinforces this idea that Wales has no culture or heritage of her own, and that we have to invent and borrow in order to create a nation. And that 'created' nation being a nation with characteristics alien to the 99.9% of Welsh for whom the cilt is an irrelevant abhoration. This is detrimental to the growth of Welsh identity. You may of course point to the creating of traditions. Fine. I agree that creating traditions is natural and good. But creating is not the same as duplicating. When Lady Llanover created the (quite ludicrous) Welsh ladies costume, she didn't copy another nation's dress, she made one anew. As for the 'God' element - you can also disagree with me at will. But don't call me 'divisive' or 'petty' etc here either'.

.

Commenting on St David's Cross: If believing in fairy tales is a pre-requisite for being a nationalist and for attending the parade, then count me out. For again, if we need to attract the new generation into the fold, we must rid ourselves of this pompous (and reactionary) religious bullshit. There - is that not a valid point I have the right to make??? Disagree if you like, but don't come out with your 'divisive and petty' routine. Such tactics stifle debate, and are just a form of bullying someone into passive, silent aquiescence. We're used to that from the Brit State and Labour Goliath. But with God on your side, I suppose you all feel justified to persecute the dissenters! It seems some of you parade organisers/helpers have created yet another Welsh sacred cow. A Plaid Cymru, or a Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg - an institute one can never criticise, or even pass judgement on, or even disagree with certain elements of. It is taboo to mildly rib, or to point out certain failings, like it is taboo in nationalist circles to criticise Saunders or Gwynfor, or the Cymdeithas leadership. Here we go again with the Saint David's Parade. No matter how many times I state my support for it as an event that promotes Welsh identity, it is still claimed I am anti-parade just because of a couple of valid points I raise''.
.

He is of course spot on, dead right, thankfully not every patriot seems to be duped enough to buy into this ''CILT CYMRU CRACKERDOM''. I have a number of reasons why I am opposed, one is this use of post 1536 ''SLAVE NAMES'' as if they were ''Cymric Clan Names'' (or Cenedl/Tribe, to be more correct in a Cymric context). Since the 60's, following on Black Panther ues of 'X' instead of Slave Sur names, we have campaigned for our people to adopt use of 'ap' or at least ''Cymricise'' their Sur Names. Now along comes Mr Wake and in his footsteps Tony Collins, inventing and promoting ''Naff Tartan Taffery'' which makes it look as if such ideas and products are rooted in our ancient Cymric heritage, when they are not. Get my patriotic point?

.

BEWARE THE BOURGEOUISE ARE REINVENTING WALES IN THEIR OWN IMAGE AGAIN. Sigh! Then along comes ''Idjeet'' of the week, Hywel Edwards an ''organ grinder'' of the National Eisteddfod (Sorry, I meant Organiser), who suggested that the Lady Llanover ''Womens Welsh Costume'' be done away with (See WM 24-03-07) because it presents the wrong image of Wales, it is ''Old Fashioned'' he says, so what? Behind all this, is as with the ''Cilts Cymru'', is much to do with marketing of Wales to the World but just why should we be dressing up for market forces and commercialism in Wales or for the World. Hywel went on to suggest the boys ''traditional costume'' of Flat cap and waistcoat also needs to be dumped (I might agree with him there, see below), thankfully, he did not suggest they all dress up in 'Tam o Shanters' and ''Cilts Cymru''. However, this post Devolution Dilettant made an even worse suggestion, that both boys and girls use WRU shirts as a ''National Dress''. Where is this guy coming from? Does he really want all our kiddies to go around sporting those ''Brit Three Feathers'' and advertizing beer - Yes! ALCOHOL, recently deemed by an huge body of experts as the most harm inflicting substance, indulged by many, but does not make it right. I have given up fags and cut down on booze myself but I have no ''Axe to Grind'' re people smoking or drinking but I am greatly opposed to our children being used as ''Advertizing Hoardings'' for Brains Breweries. HOW ABOUT YOU?

.

Right on Girls keep wearing the ''National Costume'', especially if your going to carry 'Baner Glyndwr' as the patriotess below:

As for all of you out there with those WRU Shirts, remember our 'Ditch the Duster' Campaign and at least cover them up ok!

NB: I am not keen on this ''Flat Cap Costume'' either, is there no better inspiration or idea out there, to help think up something else, before all the lads are in ''Cilts Cymru''. I seem to remember seeing years ago, the illustration of a Welsh Farmer, dressed up in his 18th/19th? century ''Sunday Best'', which consisted of: A Red to waist Jacket, White Shirt, Black Trews and calf length white Socks plus Clogs and a ''ZORRO STYLE'' hat. Am wondering if i dreamed all this up? whatever, I think some one should organise a competition to design a better and more tradional male ''Welsh Costume'' and perhaps revamp the tradional womens ''Welsh Costume'' but please do not ''throw the baby out with the bathwater''. Now back to hats, see below:

.

You will see I have taken to wearing a FEZ (yes! Just Like That?), bit of a ''Cultural Icon'' in opposition to Western Wear in the Ottoman Empire but later becomes a ''Religious Icon'' in the far East. It is also popularised in it's use by European Colonial Armies. Nothing really identifiable as a Nationalist Icon, but if we were to take up wearing something other than a ''Patriotic Flat Cap'', what would you suggest we wear? See below:

* Garibaldi 'Pill Box' Cap? HHHmmm!!!! became populer fashion with 19th Century ladies, also difficult to keep on in a storm.

* Basque Beret? HHHmmm!!! but does'nt this have ''Carlist Connections?''

* Phirygian Cap - Bonet Rouge /Cap Goch of the French Revolution, my favourite.

What about you? any suggestions? let me know if you have.

Hwyl!

Gethin.

NB: Re the Womens Welsh Costume: See related future posting: DAMES AND DRAGONS, how it is related, I will leave you to think on and guess about ok!

Slavery and Slave Revolts.

Overdosed with Wilberforce yet? If only our important Welsh Historical Anniversary got such attention in the media, libraries and schools. This aside, Wilberforce why not? However, let us keep in mind that regards this commemoration of the Abolition of Slavery, it is necessary to remind European Nations involved the Atlantic Slave Trade, of a dark bloody stain on their histories. One good thing I like about this commemoration is that it does not just dwell on Wilberforce and the British abolionists, much has been made of Black Slave Resistance and Revolt, as that of the Jamaican Maroons and the later Sharpes Rebellion of 1831. It was this latter rebellion which finally brought slavery in the Carribean to an end by 1838, so please study up on these two, and other black revolts. See 'The Welsh Were Slaves Too' in The Welsh Patriot http://welshpatriot.blogspot.com This commemoration has also witnessed a ''Political Correctness'' which has other wise proved greatly ''Historically Correct'' and not just one sided. There has been excellent material broadcast on the Arab involvement in Slavery and of African involvement in slavery, making much very clear. Unfortunatly much of this has been broadcast at night on the BBC World Service, and so not available to a wider public. There is no doubt at all that the henious cruelty perpetuated on African Slaves was about as inhumane as such evil could ever be, one of the worse features of the slave trade was in the Atlantic transportation of slaves, with stories of dead and dieing slaves being thrown over board into the sea. Equally, the internal African Slave trade that witnessed slaves being bought at brought from Slave Markets miles in land, saw slaves being marched to the coast to be sold off to the whites. This led to trails through the jungle of rotting corpses and picked bones, of slaves to weak to make the journey to the coast, perhaps sad to say a merciful relief to what awaited those who did make the coast, perhaps cross the atlantic to end up as a plantation slaves. Not least of great interest is the spread of Islam into Africa and it founding of an even greater demand for slaves, thus encouraging Africans to sustain a growing slaving industry long before Europeans arrived on the scene. An interesting development of Isalamic involvement in slavery in Africa, is of course the period of Moorish Corsairs of the Barbery Coast practise of carrying out slaving in the 17th and 18th centuries that witnessed their raids on the South Coast of England, Cornwall and their slave raid ships, even being sighted off the coast of Cymru.

NB: Black Atlas is a play on tour dealing with subject of Slavery. (see web for details)

This commemoration does not deal with the slave industry of the Spanish and Portuguese, this is an entirely different matter, but of equal interest. You can as easy read up on all this via a web search. However, I will emphasize the areas that might slip past you. The Spanish Conquest of the Canary Islands, Resistance to Colonisation by the native peoples 'Guanches', their being removed into slavery in Spain. However, not this is an highly debatable matter due to the Catholic Church denouncing this Slavery, some say too late. For even though many 'Guanches' were freed, many could not return home and thus remained as an underclass in Spain. This reality and inter marraige within an 100 years see the 'Guanches' seemingly die out as a distinct people. There is today a much revived interest in the 'Guanches' roots and heritage which has given much motivation to a Canario Nationalist Movement and Struggle. So, do check out 'Guanches' via the web/Wikapedia. At the same time do not forget that before the first African was enslaved on the Carribean, the indigenoues native peoples were to be conquored and eventually ''Killed off'' by oppressive exploitation and disease. The conclusion to all this, is of course that there is no one group of people who can cry ''innocent'' when it comes to slavery, the Inca enslaved and brutally sacrificed fellow tribes, and indeed the Cymry enslaved Cymry and sold them off to Irish Slavers. Slavery seems equally part of the human condition of all nations, at one time or another, not least of all ancient civilizations, the Roman Empire. At this point let me not only remind of the greatest Slave Revolt ever, that led by SPARTACUS 73 - 71 BC, but prior to Sparttacus there were two slave revolts on the Island of Sciliy. The First Slave Revolt 135 - 132 BC and the Second Slave Revolt 104 - 100 BC. Plenty of Information on these. will be found on the web, also check out BLACK HISTORY MONTH.

In conclusion, I can only say that 'Adfywiadwyr Cymru' must consider themselves ''Brothers/Sisters of the Ox'', in our own historical context as well as internationally . To 'Adfywiadwyr Cymru' I would say that when ''push comes to shove'', they must be with our 15th Century ''Barefoot Welsh Doggies'', 16th Century ''Pobl y Comin'', 17th/18th Century ''Pobl Ceffyl Pren'' and 19th Century ''Insurrectionists'' and ''Scotch Cattle''. If not sure about that then come aboard my new blog: http://redremembrancer.blogspot.com

Lotta Continua.
A Future Posting will deal with Marcus Garvey and ''Black Consciousness'', in the mean time you can check up on the matter of PEURTO RICA AND IT'S STRUGGLE FOR INDEPENDENCE, consider this well, comparing with Cymru today. Dames and Dragons: Female Nationalist Icons.

This post in the first instance is not about Women as Historical, Nationalist or Political Heroines. In way of an introduction to such, I first want to take a look at how women have been potrayed in images as used by nationalism over the last 100 years or so. If a women was to write this, she may come at it from a ''Sexist Male'' angle, and if she was a Welsh Women I have no doubt a lot about pacifism plus Greenham Common would come into the picture but I am rather taking aboard the view of comparing the militant artistic interpretation of Women, more in a ''Warrior/Goddess Role'' as example of Eiru - Celtic Ireland's Goddess of Land and Sovereignty, whose name as been used for the Gaelic name of Ireland. Images of Eiru were used by the Irish Rebels of 1916 and later in their propaganda to represent Irish Sovereingty they were fighting for, this image was often presented in most miltant manner, with clear indication of association to the Irish Nationalist Military Struggle of the early part of the 20th Century. In a similar fashion, the entirely fictional artistic work of 'Marianne' of the French Revolution both represents the personification of liberty in a most military manner, represented as a women prepared to lead, fight and die at the barricade in defence of that Liberty. I could give many examples from all over the World, but suffice to conclude here with drawing your attention to 'Mother India' and this iconic representation of women in association with that Countries struggle for Independence. The concept of 'Mother India' as a nationalist Icon of the Indian independence Movement is rooted in the religious representation of 'Bharat Mata' (Mother Goddess), a play on this theme first performed in 1877 had an hymn which in time became the song of India's Freedom Movent. A film produced in 1956 with same name 'Mother India' whilst telling a story that held up the heroic virtues of Indian Peasant women, at same time was full of Indian Nationalist connotations.
.

Welsh Flirtation with the female as nationalist icon, seems only have got has far as this painting, which may be found in Caernarfon. I forget who painted it and where it is hung, I should has I organised a meeting there once, but I am suffering memory loss these days. Certainly Victorian Wales had a 'Mother Wales', usually a nice old lady in a 'Welsh Costume' by a Spinning Wheel, with a pot of tea and Welsh Cakes close by. Thank the Lord, the Welsh had not yet, got into ''Tartan Taffery''. Certainly, this 'Mother Wales' was a million miles away from 'Mother India' and a million years away from the Eiru of Eire and Marianne of France. Now why is that? but of course the grovelling ''WASPS'' of Victorian Wales did not want to show their English Masters any threating image, let alone a female one. Sadly. this concept of a mixture of ''Non - Threatening Taffy'' of Victorian Wales and present day pacisfism, sits well in pacifist Labour and Cultural Nationalist circles. As example see Greenham Common statue in City Hall, Caerdydd and the Catrin Glyndwr Memorial in the City of London, not only the themes of such were non - threatening but in their unveiling were full of Pacifist - Feminist - Left Cultural Nationalist ''bourgeouise banalities'' about Women and Children being the innocents of War. True, but I get a little bit bored with the way these people make a virtue of peddling their essentially ''middleclass setimentalities''. They are certainly not of the breed of Aerfen - Our Celtic Godess of War or of our Warrior Princess Gwenllian, nor of the kind of Women that rushed to storm the Castle Inn on 'Bloody Friday' of 3 June 1831.
.
Most definatly Cymru and our cause needs an iconic statue of a Welsh Heroine, after all it's all a bit ''Male Dominated'' at the moment. Please do not suggest that ''Brit'' Fishguard Fantasy of Jemima with the pitchfork chasing the French, that is an invention. made up for the 100th anniversary of 22 February 1797. At moment Princess Gwenllian obviouly takes the lead, but perhaps you have other suggestions for a ''fighting femme'' or any number of Celtic - Welsh Goddess as icon images and as statues suggest themselves to us as worthy of attention. Too bad the 'Sais' have nicked Brigantia and Boudica, but there are plenty more who may lend themselves as representing our struggle in same way as Eriu and Marianne. Further, why not a post millenium attempt at designing a new version of our one and only 'Dame and Dragon', if you have an idea and can draw reasonably well, send us your ideas for posting here. See, my idea below, the concept being that we are desperatly in need of some nationalist 'SHE DRAGONS' to take on the ''Wicked Sais'' with sharpened teeth and claws, breathing fire in a ferocious fury to melt the 'Saxon Swords'.........

Druids Against Devolution aka Pagan Pass Times Revived..

PAGAN POSTING.

Picture here is of the full moon of Imbolg 2007, taken as it arose to the east on the 2 February at fire festival of Brighad, Celtic Goddess of Creativity, Birth and amongst much else, brewing also. I was using a ''bog standard' digital Camera, with tree in foreground, when enlarged in Photo suite, it turned out like this. Mystical? Photo below are Snowdrops, the flower of spring and of the Celtic Goddess Brighad. (Note the Celtic womens cult of 'Briga' = ''The Power'', the opposite to the Saxon Wicca aka ''Witchcraft''.)

I have been thinking to myself that these 'Christians and their Crosses' are getting a bit too much of it these days, so lets get back to our Pagan Past. Am getting a bit battered with all those ''Kross Karrying Kilted Khristians'', and their Yellow ''Heretic Cross'', symbol of oppression to all Pagans and indeed worse tyrrany to the poor Cathars, forced to wear the 'Yellow Cross' on pain of being burnt alive. Yes the 'Yellow Cross'. The Yellow Cross along with the 'Yellow Star of David', forced upon Jews by the Nazis, this 'Yellow Cross' is not an icon I would want to be associated with Cymru or our cause, nor would I carry it or march behind it, as some patriots do. Is it not bad enough that it is an ''Anglican Cross'' as well, with associations back to Azincourt and the ''Uncle Taffies'' who fought for the English against our French allies. If it ain't bad enough that the ''K.K.K.K'' flaunt to much of this 'Yellow Cross' in our faces, we now also have the newly formed 'Welsh Christian Party' flaunting the 'Yellow Cross' and calling for the ''Pagan Red Dragon' flag to be done away with, to be replaced with the 'Yellow Cross of Saint David'. I am all for getting rid of the ''Passive Red Dragon'' of the Tudor betrayal but please lets see it replaced by the 'Golden Rampant Dragon of Owain Glyndwr' or the Rampant Red Dragon of Cadwlader. (Adfywiadwyr, see below pictures of the Red and the Gold Rampant Dragons, just how difficult can it be for you to make these as flags? at least have a go!)

Time we dropped in on some Druidism, not any old Druidism but more your ''Pagan Patriotism'', seeking to establish a new movement: DRUIDS AGAINST DEVOLUTION, that's right 'DAD'. (see else where 'MAM' Movement Against Monarchy). You may think I am joking, but you should know I do not joke, I am deadly serious, really think we should go for it, commiting our 'Adfywiad Gwaldgarol Cymru' to a revival of our true religious roots. After all, what's good enough for Owain Glyndwr should be good enough for us. Did he not make homage to 'Aerfen' (aka Astarte of Cannan, aka Ishtar of Babylon), the maiden with the ''bloody hands'', the ''washer at the ford'', the River Goddess of the waters of Afon Dyfrdwy. Does that suprise you? Whatever, before we get to Druidism be it for real or of the Iolo verity, lets go back to earlier times when our ancestors whorshiped the ''Big Light'' and the ''Little Light'', yes that's it the Sun and the Moon. Usually the Sun represents masculine Gods and the Moon, female Goddesses, the latter divinities seem to be the older of religions commanding devotion of our distant ancestors. I suggest at this point you look up the religion of ZORORASTIANISM.

However, to begin near enough at the beginning, we can do no better that seek further information and knowledge of the Ancient Religion of Babylon, yes Iraq and so quite relevent. Sadly with the war going on, both the ''Crusading West'' and ''Militant Islam'' are both destroying a wonderfull heritage. It's not just Oil that is leaking into the Western World but also Iraq's great heritage of Antiqities, being sold off on the black market by the ''Islamist Terrorists'' to finnance their murder machine. We will never know, just how much damage American bombers and bullets have done to the archaelogical remains of Iraqs Ancient civilization. See pictures below of Ishtar, the ancient Babylonian Goddess of war - the Morning Star of war, also in her ''alter - ego'' as Goddess of Love - the Evening star. In both cases that star is the planet Venus, the brightest of stars and usually seen close to the moon at night and in the morning. I am quite into all this and when ever possible visit the 'Babylonian Room at the British Museum, the stuff they have there on display is fantastic. Ancient Babylon has also of course produced the greatest of heroic epics, it is said it is the basis of all ''Heroic Epics'': The Epic of Gilgamesh. Do read it ok!

The next great religious leap, is into Egypt to meet up with many Gods and Goddesses, but best Goddess of all, is of course Isis. What can I say, that is not better said on any number of websites, just do a search for ISIS.

Following on Egypt, you may leap into the familier territory of the Old and New Testament, check out the Isrealites war to occupy Cannan (Palestine), if you want to know where ''God on our side'' comes from. Great example of religious rationalisation of war and any military means justifies the end, you might think that it's great to make much of war being an holy religious war. This will take you into the ''Christian crusades'' but do not think they were just against the Muslims in the ''holy land''. No! check out also the Crusades against the Pagan Balts and Frisians and not least the poor Cathars of the Languedoc (Occitania). Follow on from there and we are going soon to reach Spains Catholics whiping out of indigeneous native religions in their ''New World'' along with Europes Catholic - v - Protestant Wars. The both brands of Christianity then get into burning ''Heretics'', and when they run out of ''Heretics'' they start on the ''Witches''.

However, do not think it is just the West/Europe that has an hold on to hypocracry, how often today are we told of Islam being the religion of peace, not quite true. Islam also for much of it's early centuries into the middle ages was as torn by warring religious factionalism between Sunni and Shi'ites (also see Ismailis and Whabis sects et al). The difference of course between West and East, is that within Islam the viciousness of European Religious Wars, is being still fought out today, with all the blind religious ferocity of the middle ages. Yes! I agree that the Anglo - American Invasion and occupation is wrong, and I am not stupid enough to not be aware that a bomb dropped from an Aero - Plane is indiscriminate as a ''Suiciders Bomb'', but still I really find the latter somewhat sickening. in those that perpetuate such slaughter do so, in belief they will go to paradise. I have not read the book 'ASSASSINS' yet, but have thumbed through it, I doubt if it will justfy the new assassins of the innocent slaughter they perpetuate. I/you may come to know a bit more about the religion and societies that resort to this from of warfare = ''Terrorism''. Yes! ''Yankees Go Home'' but I really fear for the future of the peoples of Iraq, not least the Kurds.

So that's an introduction to Religion and the state or powerful feudalist factions, but what of Religion in peoples war, check out on the web the following:

* Cathar War of Resistance, Languedoc. 1208 - 1240's.

* War of the Camisards, Languedoc. 1702 - 1715.

* War of Cunudos, Brazil. 1897.

* Native American Ghost Dance, Massacre of Wounded Knee 1890. This example is not truelly one of a people rising up in an armed struggle but a people whose last hope is in seeking deliverence via ''devine intervention''. There is however, no such thing and it is ''The End'' of America's long ''Indian wars''. Prior to this, and more successful for the oppressed, is Jamaica's ''Maroon War - Slave Rebellion''. An heroine of this peoples war was Nanny of the Maroons, an ''Obea Women' practitioner of Jamaican Black Folk Magic and Sorcery based on older African religious practises. There is much to indicate that the belief of 'Obea' allowed many of the Maroons to believe in the super natural powers of Nanny of the Maroons, that give to her the reputation of a great prowess that could overcome the British Army. Another good example of ''belief'' against bullets may be read of in the story of the Second Matebele War 1896 - 97 against the White Settlers in ''Rhodesia. This ''Chimurenga'' (Adfywiad?) Shona for struggle, also see the First Matebele War 1893, and do check out ''Chimurenga'' in Wikapedia ok! was led by a 60 yearl old ''spiritual leader'' by name of Mlimo. His ''Spiritaul Leadership'' no doubt inspired the Ndebele warriors, the Colonist forces finnaly were assured of victory when Mlimo was assinated in his cave - ''Sacred Temple''. A little known struggle but one worth reading, not least because Zimbabwe is currently in the news.

To conclude with return to Druidism and return to our ancient Celtic Religion, myself thinks, we cannot get enough of it. Especially, if it knocks into touch this ''Christian Pacifism'' that has perhaps kept us as much in chains as the castles. Perhaps, if the Welsh in the 19th century had spent more time throwing up barricades than bulding chapels, we would be a free people today? (Oh! that will get me in trouble?). Evan Roberts 1905 as a Mlimo, leading a ''Chimurenga'' (Adfywiad - Religious Resurgence), it's a thought! Too late now though? So, it's all down to 'DRUIDS AGAINST DEVOLUTION'.

But first the fun, note the following Celtic Fire Festivals:

* Samhain 1 - 2 Tachwedd (Welcomes the Winter and Celtic New year).

* Imbolg 1 - 2 Chwefror (Welcomes the Celtic Spring).

* Beltain 1 - 2 Mai (Welcomes the Celtic Summer).

* Lughnasadha 1 - 2 Awst (Welcomes the Celtic Autumn).

Music for above celebrations, myself I am not into all that ''Folks Fiddling'', as per Westacott and as Toni Lewis (RIP) played, bores me to death. Myself more into the updated ''mystic music'' of such as 'Clannad' plus 'Mediaeval Baebes'. Anything Welsh out there that comes near the mark?

If seeking ''Spiritual Solice''

Why not head for ''Angel Mountain'' (Mynydd Carn), seeking not the holy ''Phallic Mushroom'' but rather seek out the ''Singular Sacred'' Oak Tree, I have found one there, can you?

Hope above has been some ''light relief'' from the usual fayre, sincerly hope it has helped you ''jump out of the toy box'' and break out from the Cymric censored mind set (Grant Funded by the Saxon Shilling, since Eisteddfod of Caerwys at least). I consider that a good dash of the ''Esoteric & Occult'' (not the Black Magic, but the hidden) is no bad thing for Adfywiadwyr Gwladagarol'. Indeed I think I will dwell a bit more on the mysterious and magical, to see if by sorcery I can turn the ''White Chicken of Cilmeri'' back into the 'White Eagle of Cymric Resistance'. Keep eye out for future posting titled Cluck! Cluck! Cluck! Follow the trail of White Feathers......
