Cofia 69 - Cofia Merthyron Abergele.

Times were, when we really did remember their sacrifice in the cause of Cymru. See photo below of slogan, painted up on a wall, somewhere in Cymru.

There were times when we held great commemorations, but no more...
These commemorations came to an end on request of the families of 'Merthyron Abergele', due to local circumstances of hostility to the commemoration from some ''virulent voices'' within the community. However, they have not stoped patriots annually visiting in July, the graves of the 'Abergele Two' and laying Ivy and Floral tributes upon their graves. Patriots please continue to do so. In recent years 'Balchder Cymru' have taken to commemorating the death of the Abergele Martyrs with ceremony up on Eryri around a stone dedicated to the martyrs, nice gesture but not enough? At Cilmeri, the sheep stand witness to our patriotism and up on Eryri, it is the crows who stand witness to our patriotism. I am not suggesting we ignore this B.C. Contribution to the Remembrance of the 'Abergele Martyrs', if this is how they wish to remember the 1 - 7 - 1969, that's up to them, and we should be thankful they bother. Although I am not impressed with the map on the B.C website, marking out places around Cymru/Wales where we are supposed to believe other 'Cofia Merthyron Abergele' commemorations have been held, such is pretty meaningless, and with out any real signifigant patriotic purpouse to my mind.

Afterthought: Those who cannot make it to Abergele, Eryri or Caernarfon, then note leave your crossess outside Swansea Courthouse and prison, as well Cardiff Prison. This will remind of the arrest, trial and imprisonment of the radical nationalist leadership of the Anti - Investiture Campaign in 1969.
