Cymuned: Defying Cultural Colonialism.

Thus far in this 'Adfywiad Gwladgarol' Blog, I have not made much comment about matters of contemporary Cymreig/Cymraeg culture and history of ''Language Struggle'', it is not that I have nothing to say but more a matter of not yet had time to focus in these area. In time I will but for the moment I shall limit myself to a brief dipping of my toes in the troubled waters of Cymric Cultural Concerns, seeing that Cymuned Conference is on the horizon, their members may find the below of a little useful interest.

It would be unfair of me to say that Cymuned is not aware that it is Economic Colonialism that is destroying Cymric Culture, be it of the 'Global Verity' or of the ''Gombeen'' and ''Shoneen'' supported Neo - Economic Colonialism. Much of Cymuned policy takes aboard the issue of Economic Colonialism, but I suggest that it is in this area they need to focus more and more. I am however, not only talking about Direct Action Campaigns but also about developing Anti - Colonial policies of internal indigenous economic community structures to safeguard against the ravages of Economic colonialism. Already in our rural communities many such schemes have been implemented, tried out and more than often failed, so what I am talking about here is an idea that first originated in the Patriotic Front many years ago. An idea which in time took on the name of the ANTUR GADARN INITIATIVE, I have not the time now to go further in detail of this, and so I will have to return to the subject at another time. Suffice to say at core of this initiative are policies and strategies of Economic Self - Suffiency but it goes beyond just that in a number of signifigant ways and means, not do note just a matter of seeking ''Saxon Shillings'' that does no more than keep ''Taffy'' in his economic place, and our homeland's economy manipulated to serve ''Global Interests'', largelly served up to us by the European Economic Union. Before I conclude here, might I just draw to your attention a significant fact of history, we patriots remember well and often our Cymric princes and their struggles for Independence. Further, our minds all to often also dwell on peasantry and worker in popular protest, struggle and strike but what we forget and ignore, is a largelly 18th century history of a peasantry and rising native ''Entrepreneurial Class'' who were pulling Cymru out of an economic desert into a land of thriving economic communties. Think Small Holders and Drovers, Weavers and Ship Builders, and you will realise what I am getting at, and realise that it would not be such a bad idea if we did pay more attention to these ''Unsung Heroes'' we much ignore, to our cost?

I shall return to 'GADARN' later in the year, as I will to my thoughts on the matter of ''territorial'' imperative and integrity for 'Cymraeg', my ''Cultural/Language'' ideas here come forward on a platform I refer to as 'TIROEDD CUNEDDA' (Gaeltacht?). This is much a return to ''Adferism'' but with more radical purpose and Cymric/Cymraeig/Cymraeg consequence, in so far as where Adfer recognised it's ''Cultural Areas'' by defination of territory where the native language still thrived as majority language of the community. I suggest, that given the fact that since Adfer demised over the passed 30 years those ''Adfer Areas'' have deminished greatly, so what now? I suggest the following as most urgent neccessity, in so far that a ''Cymric Cultural'' line is drawn, a frontier if you wish but only in sense that a far greater ''Cymric Cultural'' area is recognised. This states quite clearly that thus far and no more will a specific area of Cymru see it's native language and culture be placed on the back foot and forced to retreat further backward in to 'Bae Ceredigion'. This land I write about is that land to the west, it is the ancient lands of Cunedda and his sons that stretch from Talaith Ynys Mon to Talaith Cedweli, in the middle ages it become known as pura Wallia. It's Frontier is the rugged spine of the Cambrian Mountains that devides a Cymru of the west from the Wales of the East, I am not talking about the actual territorial division of our country but rather proposing that we do not accept the fact of diminishing ''Cymric Cultural'' areas but insist that there is in fact a significant large territorial area upon which much attention is focused to save and sustian true Cymric Cultural Identity, no matter what. My reasoning is fuelled by an acceptance of certain realities and then a most neccessary pragmatism, that says to me that attempting to fight on all fronts over an huge are will at end of day not achieve the desired end purpose of a land in which there still thrives a native language and culture. The alternative would eventually be a land of Crachach ''Pontcanna Patagonias'', get my drift? none of this should be taken in isolation as such as GADARN would be an important factor, as would the following Radical Cultural Nationalist Policies:

* More Babies, Sion Jobbins writting in Cambria Magazine is quite right and I believe the Baltic States, France and parts of Germany have schemes to promote indigenous population rise. I liked the idea Denbighshie Council had of giving out ''Laguage Packs'' to expectant Mothers in hospitals. Single Mothers should be given as much economic and social help as possible, regards 'baby carers' and in getting employment to suit, single mothers should not be forced to work if they have children under 15. Thinks on this or maybe act on it???

*Initially, in the first instance in 'Tiroedd Cunedda' all primary school education is done through the medium of Cymraeg. this policy gradually extended to the rest of our country. I am also favourable to idea of 'Cymraeg' being universally a language of instruction in all our schools and not specifically ''Ysgolion Cymraeg''.

*For years ''Language Campaigners'' focused on the ''Mewnlifiad'', time to focus more on outward migration, Some years ago the Bretons had good campaigns in this area. In this connection I suggest study of Flanders, Corsica and the Languedoc, as well as Brittany. compare Quebec city with Montreal. Further, note native American population rise in Montana and why.

* Much of rural Cymric history is over focused on the small holder farmers of the Cefn Gwlad, the rural land labourers are all but forgotten. It is the decline of this class that draws away people from rural communities into the ''anglicised'' towns of the rural interior, that contributed to declineof 'Cymraeg'. I suggest all take a good read into this history via the excellent book 'The Rural Revolt That Failed' 1890 - 1950 by David A. Pretty U.W.Press Distribution. (I shall return to this subject at another time). Makes me want to reconsider the idea therein of Nationalisation of our land, yes 'Viva Zapata' and why not 'Tierra y Liberatad'

* S4C close it down in Caerdydd and all 'Media TV/Radio Cymraeg' devolved into communities based ''Teledu Tiroedd Cunedda'', this may help reverse the outward migration from the rural interior into the 'Pontcanna Patagonia''. Lets face fact, the whole S4C concept could have just suited the English Imperialists, drawing off Cymry away from the rural interior, to create a vacuum for ''English Colonists'' to fill throughout 'Tiroedd Cunedda''. The English Imperialists also seen wonderful opportunity of manipulating the better educated ''Cymry Cymraeg'' into their ''Media Madness'' as motivators then of a class that were stuck in a ''Singular Economy''. Such of course is the main means and method of English Imperialism in their colonisation of their Great British Empire. Think about it? I draw your attention here to history of the Alternative Technology Centre and the grand ECO - DYFI GREEN COLONIALISM MASTER PLAN (see various areas of the web for much info). Things are so bad in 'Tiroedd Cunedda', in time we might have to consider ''Cymric Re - Colonisation'', so see how the Sais have done it so successfully and also study how the Jews were successful in their colonisation of Palestine. Plus of course the Welsh Colonisation of Patagonia, in passing check out on the Web: Argentinas War against the Native Indians of the Pampas and Patagonia, not all that pertinent here but interesting and gives some perspective on where the Welsh fit in regards such hidden history.

* Radicalisation of Cultural Struggle, I suggest much more effort and energy be spent in sustaing and promotion of the native language and 'Cymric Popular Culture' on the large Council estates of the ''urban towns'' of the rural interior (see Mexican Youth Web Site 'Barrio Warriors'). Most contraversially perhaps I would propose that much of the peoples money handed out for ''linguistic survival'' and ''cultural advance'' is more and more ''Communalised'' and put under the control of local authourities - Community Councils and not into the pockets of the Crachach. Last but not least a ''Language Tax'' should be imposed on the Crachach who have become wealthy off back of a ''Welsh Language Industry.

So make what you will of it, and best wishes to Cymuned Conference 2007, they must be doing something right, if the ''Crachach'' Golwg magazine attacks Cymuned and misquotes Cymuned supporters as Dewi Prysor to serve a rather negative end, rather than giving Cymuned positive support. Myself, at moment consider that it is only Cymuned that is worth joining and supporting, as at moment all else is crap as far as I am concerned, but of course if you have been reading this blog you will know what I think of what has become of post Devolution ''Alternative Nationalism'' and it's ''Retro - Romantic Republican Rubbish'' and ''Tartan Taffery'.
