In 1968 I had to stand at the Cilmeri Cenotaph and call for Welsh Resistance to the 1969 Investiture, sure it lead me towards Jail but there are times when must make a stand no matter what the consequence. If it is neccessary for a more militant radical nationalist call for action is needed and so it was back in the day of the Adfywiad Gwladgarol Fawr 1962 - 69.
Years later, in 1982 Cofiwn would call for radical nationalist resurgence and resistance against the Festival of Castles of 1983 (see article in November Cambria on Cofiwn in these years, my review of this article will be in my Cofiwn blog in due course). During the following years the Rali Cilmeri came under the guardianship of Cymdeithas Cyfamod whose main concern was 'Y Mewnlifiad', unfortunatly a few nationalists today want to return to this dead end that will only be used by Plaid/Plant Crachach to bolster their crachach cultural nationalist campaigns as for an unsustainable 'ShamelessS4C'. Thence whilst fooled and distracted 'Camp Following Crachach Cannon Fodder will be led by the nose to continue supporting Plaid Crachach as led by the treacherous English Lord Protector Dafydd Elis Thomas. As they are being led by the nose now to attend an Hi - Jacked Plaid Cymru Rali Cilmeri and Jac is supporting this more than he is condemning and promoting instead a possible 'Plaid Cilmeri' Rally at the Cilmeri Cenotaph to launch thus, his promised so called New Nationalist Party. Does not make sense to me, how about you?
Since these times and failiure of Cymdeithas Cyfamod I have not had much time for Welsh Politics. Alternative or otherwise but returned to focus on Welsh Remembrancer 'Ysbryd Cofiwn' work untill of late regards to campaigning against the Windmill Master Robber Barons. The photo below was not taken at a Rali Cilmeri but for my book, the purpose of which was to highlight that in the 'Sixties' I was into developing a 'Political Wing' within and around the FWA in form of a Patriotic Front Militia. Reasons for which are fully explained in my Alternative Welsh Nationalist History Blog.
I have returned to Rali Cilmeri from time to time since but in mind in respect to memory of Toni Lewis and Glyn Rowlands my PF/FWA Compatriots with whom I was tried and imprisoned in 1969 as three of the 'Swansea Nine'. My last attendance was a short visit prior to the Rali to speak up for 'Old Comrade' Denis Coslett who had been condemned in an awful fashion in an otherwise good book by John Humphries Freedom Fighters Wales's Forgotten War. At the below, I took opportunity to make point that I was no longer politically one with Welsh Nationalism, Alternative or otherwise but was 'Going Left' but radically so in an 'Adfywiad Goch' way, thus the Red Pitchfork and not a White Eagle Cross Flag.
Rali Cilmeri today has no draw on me but does concern me in so far as I do see it's annual Cilmeri Cenotaph Platform having purpose from where to rally radical not reformist Welsh Cultural Nationalism as will be promoted by Plaid/Plant Crachach this year whilst a lot of Camp Followers inc so called Radical Nationalists of the Patriotic Fringe. Not least members of Balchder Cymru of the 'Knee Jerk Patriot' kind, seems encouraged by both Russel G.Morris of BC Mk II and latter day BC Mk I leader Adam Phillips now in main of Carn, seems the Battlefield Society was not useful enough as means of being used to get 'Gigs' for his Cambria Band. A Band by way mentored and lead by 'Welsh Hero' Mac Man John Jenkins who will be performing at the Plaid Cymru Cilmeri Rally, yes many an 'Old Comrade' will be turning with discompfort in their graves in respect to this short sightedness or what, a convenient forgetfullness as Jac and BC 'Leaders' seems to have a dose of as well? Whatever, Adam Phillips founder of BC a decade ago for a while showed promise, well lets say 'appeared' to do so with a lot of posing in 'Para Military' style uniforms and from time to time did back up with Patriotic Action as in campaigning against Hafod Quarry and holding a good blockade of the Gate of Caernarfon Castle but now Cambria Band has taken over and Adam prefers to be a 'Little Drummer Boy' rather than the Freedom Fighter he once hoped to be. Personally, I am sorry as well as sad about that as Adam is no patriotic slouch but has done quite a lot of good 'Gwaith Gwladgarol' in his home patch for which he cannot be faulted but rather respected. However, he did also have the makings of a good radical nationalist resurgent - 'Adfywiadwr Gwladgarol' but at end of the day, did not as Jac deliver mores the shame!
Which now leaves Russell G.Morris, leader of BC Mk II, will he deliver, but before he can he will have needs first to burn his Plaid Crachach membership Card as how can one possibly trust to someone who sits with one leg either side of the fence with no real commitment to an active Welsh Resistance Movement. As long as he remains in Plaid Cymru there will always be doubts as to whose side he is on and where his loyalty really resides, a true Alternative Nationalist and Radical Resurgent cannot possibly be a member of reformist Plaid Crachach or be a camp follower of Plant Crachach. If now Rali Cilmeri cannot deliver an 'Adfywiad Gwladgarol Cymru Newydd', which to be for real must engage fully as the Front Line Welsh Resistance Movement and Campaigner in the 'Welsh Windmill War':
