INTRODUCTION TO WELSH OUTLAWS: Adar y Griem, Gwerin Owain and 'Banditti Cambria'.

I have warned and warned but to no avail, despite my floating out a Native Princes of Wales Inititiative (see my Urdd Breninol Cymru blog) to patriots I thought would seriously do something to counter Cadw's insideouse plans to castrate the 'nationalist testicles' of our native patriot princes and make of them 'objects of tourist business desires'. Tourism purposes I do not myself totally oppose but do oppose the way money has been wasted on consultants, many of them English Companies, plus wasted on more Cadw junketing as was done over five years regards the Historic Environment Group & New Welsh Heritage Strategy (took five years, that really was a Grand Junket). That's something a revived Rebecca Magazine needs to look into, not those Free Masons again, it's not they are a threat to Wales, more likes the post Devolution Dilletante Establisment and of course 'Y Crachach Newydd' - England's Client Tribe in Wales.

I also suspect Cadw briefed their consultants in producing Interpretation plans to dumb down a great deal and avoid making any thing that might make these plans a matter of representing and presenting an history of 'Conquorors & Conquored' which of course the over 200 years of Welsh struggles to resist conquest and retain Independence were. Not least am I more than annoyed but very angry that it appears that far from being transparent and inclusive in all this Cadw & Co have already been handing out money making areas to the 'Usual Suspects' of 'Cultural Patriotism'. For the most part they who have not given a 'monkey's uncle' about organising, supporting or attending patriotic commemorations for near enough half a century unless there is 'Saxon Silver' in it.

I have repeatedly called for Patriotic Campaigns on this issue but no, just total 'inaction' and 'useless' from the ranks of those who have set themselves up as the pathetic post Millenium 'Feeble Face Book Fantasist Fusiliers' who seek to follow but fruitlessly so in the footsteps of Cofiwn, a true Cymric Consciuosness Campaign fit for the fight against 'Anglicisation and Acculturalisation' as in the campaign against the Festival of Castles aka Sarhad'83. More on this patriotic failiure in fourth coming special feature in The Welsh Patriot and Adfywiad Blaencad come Mis Hydref. Suffice to say now, forget pre1282 and all prior to that, unfortunate but Cadw's won without a fight back from the 'usual suspects' of knee jerk patriot posuers so fond of posturing and parading in remembrance of Welsh Princes whilst also pretending to be 'Welsh Republicans' (a very, very serious bad joke, sigh!!!).

However, my attempt to make of younger patriots true Adfywiadwyr Gwladgarol is not getting very far, too much Rali Cilmeri and 'Gobs', both having reached their 'Use by Dates'. So before too many of you become well on the road of the next generation of 'Gobs' and good for bugger all than write 'Thicko Sicko' threatening letters! Lets get real and regard 1282 as year zero and move on, it's post 1282, that counts, lets accept that Welsh Princes are passé. For Adfywiadwyr Gwladgarol it's Welsh Rebels, Welsh Outlaws and 'Banditti Cambria' that hence must count , the resitence struggle of 'the nation' that survived in the wild mountain regions, the vast woods and in the hidden caves of a countryside that remained 'Cymru Rydd'.

It is time that 'Adfywiadwyr Gwladgarol' remembered not the old Princes, Lords and Chiefs but instead remembered the 'Rebel Resistence' of 1315 and 1345; they who became the 'Adar y Griem' and later the 'Barefoot Welsh Doggis' of Glyndwr's largelly Peasant Army (History testifies: Those whose names were not seen as worth recording upon their surrender, men of no consequence!) . Later as 'Y Gwerin Owain' they would continue to wage war on the Conquoror and Coloniser and later as 'Banditti Cambria' wage war on the Tudor Collaborating Welsh Gentry and English Lords favoured by the Tudors as the Earls of Liecester and Somerset. It's this history will make of your true radical Welsh Rebels and not 'Fruitless Followers of Fashion' or worse perhaps 'Feeble Futile Facebook Fusiliers'.

Forward Adfywiadwyr Gwladgarol, not to the shrines of princes but to the Retreats and Redoubts of continuing Welsh Resistence as Y Graig Llwyd (Llanymynaich), Cefn Digoll (Long Mountain), Gwern y Gof in Ceri, Y Drwm Ddu in Gwerthrynion and Coed Dugoed in Mawddwy. For further information on Welsh Outlaw Retreats and Redoubts obtain and read the book Welsh Outlaws and Bandits by E.A Rees, Caterwen Press. An excellent book though I do not accept some of his conclusions as example, Welsh Outlaws were not a Welsh Resistence against alien rule, keep in mind the way 'Rebels' today are often made into 'Bandits'. Indeed my Uncle as a conscript in the SWB posted to Eritrea was sent out to fight 'Bandits' aka Eritrean Freedom Fighters. (Suggest you google names above, for info and on how to get to these retreats and redoubts, be some what interestingly different from the usual medieval history).
