OSIAN JONES, CIG AND A RADICALLY RESURGENT NEW CULTURAL REVOLUTION?

I am not known for my overwhelming enthusiasm about Cymdeithas yr Iaith Cymraeg but one cannot fail to admire the fact that many of their members over the years have conquered fear to make a stand for their cause. Osian Jones recently was one in a long line of CIG activists to make such a stand and thence be slung in jail. I am not as bothered as he & CIG are regards Super Markets aka the 'Cathedrals of Consumerism' and plunderers of the third world carrying on via medium of 'Cymraeg'. Not least also because they are contributors to the demise of the Welsh Farmers economic viability by monopolist control of milk prices aka 'Price Fixing' and so undermining many a Welsh Speaking farming family. The question thus begs to be asked should not CIG be in unity and solidarity action with Welsh Farmers to defend a traditional way of life which is also central to the existence of 'Cymru Cymraeg'.

This of course will lead to further rural decline but all that aside, whilst CIG might be on the whole 'politically challenged' but as far as guts is concerned they are none too short of that. Yes, I am disappointed that they cannot see Super Markets as an Evil Empire and cannot see that it really is in best interest of the native language for S4C to be got rid of, or rather devolved out of Caerdydd into numerous local 'Cymraeg' community TV services throughout 'Tiroedd Cunedda'. Then it might not have to remain in the ''safe hands'' of the British Governments Department of Culture, for reasons really which are opposite to the Spirit of Devolution but no one dares to say that out loud, do they? So when CIG talks of the Welsh Language LCO and leaves out the aforementioned inconsistency brought about by a distrust of the English Speaking Welsh, it only goes to further erode any sympathy and confidence I might have for CIG. Not just seeing them as i do, as 'Plant y Crachach Newydd'.

However, respect to Osian Jones for his stand and sacrifice, and let us ponder on his call: “I hope my actions will mark the start of a new exciting period in the history of Cymdeithas yr Iaith''...........Such I think Osian could very well lead and one would hope that CIG makes it really exciting period by taking note of what Osian had to say upon his sentencing ''Why am I in Jail and not the Bankers''. I suggest young Cultural Nationalists take that has an hint to become 'ADFYWIAD GWLADGAROL' and initiate a new popular Cultural Revolution struggle on the Council Estates of 'Y Fro Cymraeg'. A Cultural Revolution that as a much broader Socio - Economic base than seeks to establish a Pontcanna Patagonia in Caerdydd for 'Y Crachach Newydd'.
