HUNGARY: National Revolution Day 15 March 1848.

A proposed annual Adfywiadwyr Gwladgarol Spring Break, why not visit Budapest for the 15 March National Revolution Day Commemorations, leave Cardiff's Dydd Dewi to the Tartan Taffs. Park Cathays comes no where near Heroes Square and this is just for starters. Budapest is full of excellent Patriotic Memorials to mark the great patriotic struggles of Hungarians for their national Independence and sovereignty, not least go see the Crown of Saint Stephen. You will note that the Heroes Square monument marks in particular the arrival of the Seven Magyar chiefs in what was to becomec Hungary, similar to the arrival of Cunedda and his sons into the far west of the British Isles to found the land of 'Y Cymry'. Would it not be a good idea for us to mark with great memorial this arrival of Cunedda and sons to found our nation, hopefully in the style of the Seven Magyar chiefs. Where do you think such memorial should be set up? maybe a devolved memorial over the areas that Cunedda and his sons settled 'Tiroedd Cunedda'. What are your thoughts on this?

I am old enough, just! to remember the 1956 Hungarian Revolution which caught my young imagination more than Suez. I remember also Hungarian Asylum Seekers arriving in Wales and taking up work in our Coal mines. Continuing our nation's welcome to those who need safty from oppression and cruelty, long may this tradition continue.
