Victory to the Kurdish People.
ENGLAND'S DIFFICULTY IS IRELAND'S OPPORTUNITY, HOW MANY TIMES HAVE YOU HEARD ''WELSH REPUBLICANS'' SAY THAT? . BUT FEW SAY IRAQ'S DIFFICULTY IS KURDESTANS OPPORTUNITY. Opposite is the Flag of Kurdestan, of which there is a fascinating write up on Wikapedia and on other web sites. So go search and read up on. Before I go any further I must qualify the below by stating clearly that I am opposed to the Anglo - American War of Aggression in Iraq, and that I am fully aware of the slaughter of the 'Innocents' by all those engaged in this most evil of wars. However, what I have to say must be said and I do so with the justification that those who may condemn me, are possibly those who have much to say about Iraq but on Darfur are totally silent. The same sort of people were silent when Iraq under Saddam dictatorship were ''Arabizing Kurdestan'' whilst commiting 'Acts of Genocide' upon the Kurdish people. For this reason I have need to remind Welsh Patriots of this, and do realise that now waiting in the wings, is Turkey wishing for any pretext to invade Kurdestan to sieze it's natural resources and make even less an impossible dream of a Greater United Independent Kurdestan. So, I really feel that Welsh Nationalists should be doing as much about helping to make solid the foundations Kurdestan as they do in supporting the Anti - American Anti - War Movement. Welsh Patriots should be a bit more independantly minded and SUPPORT THE CONTINUING STRUGGLE OF THE KURDISH PEOPLES THROUGHOUT THE MIDDLE EAST AS WELL AS FOR INSTANCE THE BEDOUIN OF ISRAEL AND TOUAREG PEOPLES OF THE SOUTHERN SAHARA. (see at end of this posting)..
At the Cilmeri 2004 Commemoration commotion was caused by the attempt of Ray Davies a member of the labour party and his CND fellow travellers to hi - jack the Cilmeri Cenotaph mound to make as an Anti - Iraq War platform. No doubt to offer up the same old time worn "Anti - Americanisms" so beloved of the 'Anglo - Welsh Left' and their knee jerk liberal fellow travellers amongst Welsh Nationalists. This attempted "hi-jacking" led to a "turning of the backs" protest by a good number of patriots. I included myself in this protest but not necessary because I was against any anti - war in Iraq campaign but more so regards the cheek of a "Gaggle of usual suspect Welsh pacifists" who has never had any interest in Cilmeri attempting to use the events for their own ends.

To me there is only one cause to be advanced at Cilmeri and that is the Patriotic cause to restore our homelands Independence and as font and focus of our opposition and resistance to the English monarchies claim to sovereignty over our country and communities. However, I am not opposed to patriots making other reasonable political statements at the Cilmeri cenotaph, including such that has bearing on the struggle of other small nations and minority people’s struggles for Independence. Surely at Cilmeri 2004 and since, speakers should have been calling for solidarity with the Kurdish people and possibly less concerned for "Arab Iraq" whom for years have oppressed and exploited the Kurdish homeland and at same time slaughtered and massacred Kurds in the 1000's. Much within our own life time but how forgetful of this fact were many, including so called "Welsh Nationalist" but more surprisingly so called "Welsh Republicans", as i will comment on below.

The moment the Iraq war started the "Usual Pacifist and Co Suspects" were up and at it organising "Peace Protest Marches" whilst the I.S. put into operation their excellent means of mass producing "placard posters" (freely handed out to make all protests appear as really big I.S. events). Thence come the "Big Marches" and I remember on one occasion there was the strategy of holding major Anti - war marches at same time in the Capital Cities of the British Isles or at least in Belfast, Edinburgh and London but not in Caerdydd. If that was not insulting to the integrity of our nation I would like to know why not? So did "Anglo - Left Anti - War Protesters" particularly those of "Welsh Nationalist and Republican persuasion" boycott the London event and instead hold their own event in Caerdydd? No they did not, the "Paci - Green Left" of Plaid Cymru led others by their noses up to London and so recognised London still as the "Capital of Cymru".

This is the usual type of thinking and action from certain "Non - Nationalist" leaders and members of Plaid Cymru but surely not from so called "Welsh Republicans". yes! I know of a number of they who also "twaddled their way to London on organised buses" (though i suspect this had more to do with opportunity of visiting London pubs than protesting in Trafalgar square). Those "Republican Patriots" who over the years I had listened to waxing lyrical about the 1916 Irish Rebellion and arguing the case that "England's difficulty was Ireland's Opportunity", in other words England's war with Germany was ideal occasion for Ireland to seize it's Independence. I have never since the "Iraq War" began heard these so called "Welsh Republicans" certainly not "Plaid Rainbow People" apply the same reasoning to the "Kurdish Question". Although in all fairness to Dafydd Iwan President of Plaid Cymru, he has never lost sight at all of the need to support the Kurds. Dafydd Iwan has repeatedly been raising the "Kurdish Question" or expressing solidarity with their struggle which he did at Cilmeri 2004. I must also here give due credit to Labour M.P. Anne Clwyd for her long consistent support for the Kurdish people, but where are the majority of "Welsh Nationalists" on this matter?

So what should be a true Welsh Nationalist Position on the "Iraq war", first and foremost we need to focus attention on the "Kurdish Question" and make that the beginning and end of our "Cymric Concern". There are plenty enough "Anglos" plus "Pacifists et al" throughout the world to be generally concerned with the "Iraq War" but few of these will be concerned about the Kurds and indeed many would oppose Kurdish Independence and the very idea of a "Greater Kurdistan". Of course most governments of the world would also oppose such not least the governments of America and England, the Kurds themselves are fully aware of such "real politik" of the Western Governments and outright hostility of the Turkish and Arab/Muslim governments. Thus I would suggest and propose that Welsh Patriots be they "Nationalist or Republican" have duty and obligation to support the Kurdish peoples of present day ''Free Kurdestan'' and of the Middle East in general. I propose above all else there is need to work with Kurds in Cymru in a CAMBRO - KURD SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN IN SUPPORT OF THE STRUGGLE TO RESTORE KURDISH OCCUPIED LANDS IN AN INDEPENDENT GREATER KURDISTAN.

The above in mind I urge one and all to get hold issue of NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC Jan 2006* which carries an excellent article on the most promising picture of the reality that "Iraq's difficulty has proved to be the Kurdish opportunity". Unfortunately. I cannot fail to welcome this despite knowing that for the Arabs of Iraq the situation is very different which brings me to my view on this evil war. I absolutely oppose it as I opposed the Anglo - American Invasion in the first place, I am amazed that after the Lebanon and Somalia the "Anglo American Alliance" embarked on this adventure which has cost the lives of so many innocents and soldiers needlessly. If ever there was the case for the old Anarchist idea of "Killing No Murder", assassination of "Political Leaders" to be used then surely such should have been employed against Saddam. I am of the mind that if sufficient "Financial reward" had been offered some "faction" or another in Iraq would have "Shot the Sod". This would have, I have no doubt been less costly in terms of dead and on going prevailing financial cost of the war, money which could have been spent on building up the infrastructure ruined by "Saddam's adventurism". Whatever? Do buy the aforementioned NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC, it will be a well worth it investment and hopefully it will move you to fully support the KURDISH STRUGGLE.
